Today, the 134th running of one of horse racing most prestigious events, the Kentucky Derby, will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. A tradition known as the “Run for the Roses” which began in 1875, takes place on the first Saturday of May and is the first jewel in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred racing.

The incredible strength of the delicate thoroughbreds as they gallop down the track in their quest for a victory, is about much more than just speed. It requires determination , desire and trust of both the horse and the jockey which begins with a relationship that is far greater than one might imagine.
